'''Song for Peace'''  (Hebrew: שיר לשלום, Song for Peace) is an Israeli pop song that was written by Yaakov Rotblit in 1969. It was  first performed by Lehakat HaNahal in 1969. The song expresses a strong connection with the previous years that have shown a lot of aggression in the Levant.

The song was originally intended for the Navy Band, but Rosenblum, who composed the song and sent it to the band from his residence in London,  insisted on arranging it himself. The Navy Band's musical director, Benny Negri, refused this request, and Rosenblum handed the song over to Nahal, with whom he had previously worked extensively.

Regarding writing a peace song specifically for a military band, Rotblit said that the IDF struggled to ultimately achieve peace .  Rotblit himself had been wounded in the Battle of Abu Tor in the Six-Day War , and saw peace as something he longed for.
