Song for Peace (Hebrew: שיר לשלום, Song for Peace) is an Israeli pop song that was written by Yaakov Rotblit in 1969. It was first performed by Lehakat HaNahal in 1969. The song expresses a strong connection with the previous years that have shown a lot of aggression in the Levant.

on April 9, 1977 in Tel Aviv’s Kikar Malchei Yisrael (Kings of Israel Square, today called Rabin Square) an Event was organized by the Israeli Peace Now movement and other left-wing groups after Egyptian President Anwar Sadat’s signals about peace. About 120,000 people came.[1]

The song was originally intended for the Navy Band, but Rosenblum, who composed the song and sent it to the band from his residence in London, insisted on arranging it himself. The Navy Band's musical director, Benny Negri, refused this request, and Rosenblum handed the song over to Nahal, with whom he had previously worked extensively.

Regarding writing a peace song specifically for a military band, Rotblit said that the IDF struggled to ultimately achieve peace .  Rotblit himself had been wounded in the Battle of Abu Tor in the Six-Day War , and saw peace as something he longed for.
